Weapon of Choice
Given the fiercely competitive nature of Bristol’s nightlife, it’s a brave soul indeed who dares to take their first tentative steps into the arena of club promotion. The road is often long and rewards are few and far between yet after only four appearances, Weapon of Choice (every second Tuesday at Mr. Wolf’s) is fast establishing itself as a stalwart on the club scene. This is thanks largely to a simple but highly effective concept combining the live creation of street art with a music policy that leans towards the hip-hop and dubstep side of things, perfectly capturing the zeitgeist of Bristol’s contemporary art and music scene.

Homegrown talent Cheba is the driving force behind the brand; ensuring well informed choices have been made with regards to the issuing of invitations. Recent guest artists have included Inkie and Mr. Jago, the pair combining their disparate styles to create a beautifully integrated piece showcasing opposing elements from the street art spectrum. Next up to collaborate are Soker and Seza, a prospect that will no doubt be a cause of excitement for any fans of the old-skool style. The outcome, along with all the pieces that are eventually created, will be exhibited at sponsors Guerilla Galleries to be auctioned off in aid of charitable causes.
Mr Wolf’s is the natural choice for hosting such a series of events, with a long-term music policy that has been highly supportive of local acts. Bristol legends K’Ners, DJ Johnston and Diss Miss will be performing next, while previous line-ups have featured the likes of ThinKing, Illache and Wascal. The strength of the artists on offer perfectly demonstrates the ethos behind Weapon of Choice, a celebration of the talent available on our doorstep. The next event takes place on Tue 13 May; you’d be well advised to check it out before the message spreads much further.
