The Wonders of Winter

Winter is en route. It’s easy to be negative about the cold season, especially after such a pants summer but lest we forget all the wonderful things about winter that we all really, really look forward to:

That satisfying crunch of walking over crispy leaves; dancing your way along the pavement in pursuit of a crackle quite unlike any other.

Being wrapped up snug in bed when the rain batters and rattles your window – Bliss!

Conker fights! Fighting! With conkers!

Fireplaces! If you don’t have one yourself, all the best pubs always have a roarer in the corner and it’s worth getting cold and frosty outside just so you can warm yourself again next to one of these fiery beauties.

Really hot baths with orange or cinnamon oils in after a long, cold day.

Wearing layers! The best excuse not to have to choose between two things; just wear both!

Drinking tea, coffee and other steamy beverages without feeling like a granny.

It will get cold. This means people will get colds. This means people will get sexy hoarse voices.

Hats! Gloves! Mittens!! Ear-Muffs!!! Scarfs!!!!!!! Yay!

You can realistically think of Christmas as ‘approaching’.

Hot chocolate and Bailey’s in bed!

Mmmmmmmm….When blowing on your hands in fingerless gloves you always feel like you’re in a movie! Some say Fagin, I say a New York copper patrolling his patch.

Radiators! Sitting on the floor with your back against one, rubbing your hands against one for warmth, leaving your gloves on one for a couple of hours then slipping them on as you go out and hot towels after you get out of the shower in the morning! YES! Or even portable radiators for your bed…hot water bottles!

Huddling/snuggling for warmth. Winter encourages body contact as apposed to summer when you avoid it at all costs because everyone’s too sweaty.

Melting Wisper chocolate bars (now they are back!) in the heat of a fire - the bubbles are wicked when they melt!

Walking around on a dim, frosty morning with the fresh, crisp air on your face.

British traditional food is really winter food. Summer has been invaded with all sorts of foreign imports like BBQs and ice-cream but winter is the best time to enjoy the likes of cottage pie, toad in the hole, shepherds pie, bangers and mash and Sunday roasts!

The excitement you get after waking up on a cold morning and the curtains are still drawn – there is a remote but orgasmic possibility that when you look out the window there will be snow everywhere!!!
