Stage/Music Preview – Pedestrian

Fundraiser Party – Friday 23rd July 2010 @ The Polish Club, Bristol
Performances – Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th July 2010 @ Bristol Old Vic, Bristol

Tom Wainwright is a Bristol-based writer/performer with a taste for the sinister and the absurd. Pedestrian is his latest project; a dark and brooding one-man fairytale of epic proportions. It’s a journey from a never ending pedestrianised shopping precinct to the gates of heaven and back, forever pursued by a giant goldfish. It’s a perversely comic razor-sharp satire about attempting to suppress ‘The Fear’; about apathy; about wanting to change the world and doing nothing.

Ahead of taking this brand spanking new show to Edinburgh Festival in August (Thursday 5th until Sunday 29th August 2010 @ Big Belly, Underbelly, Edinburgh), Wainwright is performing two special preview performances of Pedestrian at the Bristol Old Vic as well as putting on a lively Fundraising Party at the Polish Club in Clifton on Friday 23rd July. Ten pounds gets you in on the night to enjoy live music from Kid Carpet and others, performance/games from Action Hero and Tinned Fingers, some performance poetry, and a raffle to win theatre tickets, booze, food, a massage and the opportunity to slap Wainwright in the face repeatedly with a giant trout.

Kate Yedigaroff, Producer at Bristol Old Vic and Artistic Director of Mayfest says; “Wainwright is one of the most exciting artists to emerge from Bristol in recent years. He creates performance that effortlessly fuses text with a strong physical and visual language; Pedestrian is a virtuoso example of this ambitious marriage of forms.”
