Stage Preview - Apples

Monday 28th until Wednesday 30th June 2010 @ Bristol Old Vic, Bristol

Enter the dazzling, chaotic world of Adam & Eve living in a very different Eden. Set on a Middlesbrough council estate, streams of poetic, impassioned and often hilarious words pour from the minds of five fifteen year olds as they negotiate a world where the adults are absent, drugs are everywhere, sex is desperate and life is both terrifying and thrilling. Their world is shocking, colourful, delightful and depressing. They feed every stereotype currently applied to young disaffected people. They are violent, shameless, old before their time, ruthless, and their horizons reach only to their next night out.

And yet they challenge and dissolve our prejudice as their brave, complex and profound inner lives are revealed. Battling for self-esteem and afraid of not knowing who they are, they are bewildered, optimistic, intelligent and daft in equal measure.  The events of the story are shocking, and a clarion call to improve the lives and hopes of young people in the UK.
