Gig Review - New Found Glory
Thursday 27th November 2008 @ Academy, Bristol
With Support From: Crime in Stereo, Four Years Strong, Set Your Goals
Tonight was off the wall with 4 amazing bands pulling a mixed crowd into the sold out Academy. It was heaving with people of all ages that crammed themselves into any space to catch a glimpse of the action. The gig was also being recorded for a local Cardiff radio station and was pumping with energy, ready to go.
Supporting tonight was Crime in Stereo who got the ball rolling as they got everyone hyped up for the awesome show ahead! They played a tight performance and set an intense atmosphere preparing us for the rest of the night.
Four Years Strong really picked up the pace with the energy thrown into their set. They bounced around on stage belting out their songs that fans were screaming along to. They involved the crowd well, urging us to sing along with them and ‘move our feet’.
Set Your Goals put on a good show as vocalists Jordan Brown and Matt Wilson jumped into the crowd shouting lyrics in our faces. At one point, vocalist Matt Wilson spotted a fan in the crowd that had attended many of the previous shows on this tour and so encouraged him on stage to enjoy the show V.I.P style.
With the crowd already warmed up, headliners New Found Glory totally stole the show. They hit things off with their old school tunes that most of us listened to when we were back in high school. Front man, Jordan Pundik was welcomed to the stage with a santa jacket that was chucked at him. He wore it for the majority of the gig, also making a joke about the guy having bad body odour! Many people crowd surfed to the front but guitarist, Steve Klein noticed one of the young fans got pushed up and got kicked out so insisted he was let back in to enjoy the rest of the night. Towards the end, Pundik asked who liked Kids In Glass Houses then started singing their songs. As the crowd joined in, he pointed to the side of the stage where the band stood watching.
New Found Glory really know how to interact with their fans and keep the atmosphere flowing throughout the entire night. It was a fun filled evening that ended on a high with everyone leaving the academy with adrenaline pumping. They definitely haven’t lost their touch!
