Gig Review - Elle Milano

Friday 11th April 2008 @ Louisiana, Bristol
With Support From: Untitled Musical Project ,Triggerfish, Roxy’s Wardrobe

The infamous Louisiana was rocked to its foundations by four of the most diverse and talented up-and-coming bands the local live music scene has to offer. Kicking things off in plenty of style were local four piece Roxy’s Wardrobe. Currently recording some new material, Roxy’s Wardrobe are gradually gathering a loyal following in Bristol. Their performance electrified the crowds with an array of catchy rock anthems that set the tone for the other bands to follow. With promises of new material in plenty of time for their upcoming gig supporting Fortune Drive, these guys will surely be headlining their own gigs soon.

Swiftly up next were Triggerfish. They began their set by informing the crowd that they will be starting tonight with the song they usually close their sets with. This was a move that definitely went down well with the crowd. After an upbeat start to their set, they then put down their guitars and switched to their keyboards and synthesisers for a mellow track that was tightly executed. The rest of their set illustrated the unique side of this bands synthesised rock, elevated by strong vocals. Showing such diversity throughout their set, demonstrates just how promising this band is.

The true surprises of the night were the Bristol based band Untitled Musical Project. An animated performance came with a punk ridden assault on the ears. Their rapid vocals and coarse screams were a refreshing shock to all in attendance. An unlikely cross between the Sex Pistols and the Arctic Monkeys, the set was fun and intense from start to finish.

Last band of the night were headline act Elle Milano, a newly signed Brighton three piece. After impressive performances from the first three bands, they had a hard act to follow. They relished in the challenge and delivered an outstanding performance. They exhibited a familiar new rave edge that engaged and thrilled the crowd. One of the highlights to the set was the crowd pleasing former single Meanwhile In Hollywood. With the night coming to an end, Elle Milano thanked the crowd for sticking round for their set, we’re sure everyone else shared our opinion that there was no need for thanks, it was a cracking gig and one which will be remembered.
