City Car Club is a relatively new concept. The idea is that the club owns and maintains a fleet of cars across a city which club members all share and can book by the hour, day or for however long they want. The club pays for all tax, insurance, servicing, cleaning and even fuel – members simply pay a joining fee of £50 and then pay-as-you-go (around £4.50 an hour depending on car size)!

The car will be parked in the same designated place for whenever members want it, clean, taxed, serviced and ready for use and all members need to do is book a car online or on the phone, jump in and drive off.

City Car Club has a presence in several UK cities but in Bristol the concept has really taken off! Membership here has doubled since the start of 2008 with over 1,000 people now on the books and over 50 cars parked on streets across Bristol, available for rent by the hour.
