CD Review - The Stupids: The Kids Don’t Like It

Released: 06/07/09

Stupid adjectives: dense, slow and pretty darn daft. Change this to a thrash of beats and an American punk attitude that implodes your ears to a deafening state (respectably) and an Ipswich band is created to give you a balance of infectious instrumental precision and a kooky sense that recaps Tenacious D.

21 years is a well worth the wait for The Kids Don’t Like It with song structures crediting in their favour with lyrics that cliché the heavier rock and roll lifestyle with wordplay as intros and a feast of air guitar wannabe moments. With Sons Of The Beach, a fast pace drum speeding dynamic that insists on a punk chunk quality throughout the album. Its sound is sedated by a hidden track that is a drunken acoustic chant on the “Baby Jesus”.  Feel The Suck has an adolescent incite; “Never had the same feeling when the days start to suck.”

Their sound isn’t light years ahead, if you’ve got MXPX or Hot Water Music on your playlist then it’s intense sound will keep you thriving and splits them far apart from the rookies. So now both you and your Dad can bond in an avid state, communicably.
