CD Review - Concepts Of Inebriation: Greatest Hits (In The Time Allocated)

Released: 10/08

Greatest Hits (In The Time Allocated) may seem egotistical for a title for your debut album but there is good reason for it in these four Bristolians.

Singing about the blasé to pure angst, the lyrics are gritty but honest and quirky and each song has its own individual personality with messages that teenagers can relate to like on The Gay Song, about the girl you can never have with a rather slick bass sound, and Silent Disco, with all its bitter sweet sentiments. The album too has a quality to it, a nice flow and a good, wise pace.

Concepts Of Inebriation have a style that may make you think of bands such as Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Arctic Monkeys and Stereophonics but only to an extent because their music broadens the possibilities of indie-rock. It’s a treat, reminding you what home grown bands can do without all this manufactured pop palaver.
