It’s been a long time coming but Suit Yourself Magazine is back for Bristol, bigger and brighter than ever!!! 2009 sees SY go under a significant transformation and we are very proud to present the first quarterly issue of Suit Yourself Magazine. This new, fatter format means more articles, more in-depth features, more cartoons, more illustrations and more full page photos, we have worked tirelessly to create an altogether less disposable magazine and one which you can dip and in and out of during the three month period.
Suit Yourself Magazine is an independent publication, a voice for all those young at heart, those interested in music, fashion, adventure, the arts, their environment and everything in between. A magazine which investigates, uncovers and promotes everything that makes Bristol such a fun, vibrant and altogether amazing place to live!

A definite treat and regular highlight now for May in Bristol has to be Mayfest – Bristol’s exciting festival of contemporary theatre. Wooooosh! April has swung into view just in time for us all to remember what the sun feels like…that’s right, bloody amazing! The sun might have his hat on but it’s still pretty chilly – just try and hold out for a few more weeks and try not to fall into the trap of wearing shorts and flip-flops to the shops yet or you’ll regret it as soon as there’s a light breeze. Plus, no-one likes the pasty legs of an over-eager optimist.

Deck The Halls!
Some will yawn, some will cheer, but love it or lump it, Christmas is here! The season for family, the season for giving, read through these page to see what you’re missing! There are so many articles for you to discover, and Elves are the theme, as on the front cover. We’ve got competitions and games, poems and jokes, and all the damned clichés this season evokes. There are ideas for presents, whether to make or to buy, and the best Christmas markets where something might catch your eye. You can read Auntie Harper as he dashes your hopes, lend an ear to Mystic Ginger and her ho-ho-horoscopes.
So jump right on in, the mag’s like a fat Christmas buffet, with something for everyone amongst the array. Articles that are bitter, articles that are sweet, smothered in Suit Yourself gravy, you can’t wait to eat. Contents is a parsnip, the listings like cranberry jam, this intro is a cracker you pull with your old man. Just don’t forget the stuffing, the roasties and plus, a turkey so large you’d think its mother was rogered by an omnibus. After you’ve finished, you’ll be bursting from all you’ve read, with some articles stuck in your teeth, and some stuck in your head.

The Chill Factor
What’s this? Leaves on the pavement rather than on their branches? Jumpers on my back rather than at the bottom of my cupboard? And why can’t I breathe through my nose anymore?!
Face it. Winter is firmly here; but instead of letting it get you down and contemplate hibernation, try and remember just how much you love this season. Think back to those heady days of summer when you’re choked, sweating buckets on the bus, things sticking to you and the smell of too many hot bodies. Days like that you pray for winter with its cold, fresh air to sweep into view. Let’s celebrate the season rather than get depressed about it and a good first step is to turn to page 6 and read all about our Wonders of Winter.
Some of the treats buried in there were too good to pass up so we’ve also explored in detail some of our other favourite things about winter, like socks! (page 20), rugby (page 45), Café Chocolat (page 54) and Bonfire Night (page 14)! That should be more than enough to keep you content throughout November, but if you’re still pining, just remember the X word is only just around the corner…
