Bristol’s Biggest Bike Ride 2009
Sunday 21st June 2009 @ All Over Bristol
Another sunny Sunday in June sees the 16th annual Bristol’s Biggest Bike Ride and Fun Day event. Now officially Britain’s first Cycling City, Bristol is proud to host this free family event run by Bristol City Council to celebrate the end of National Bike Week (13th – 21st June).
This year’s event will be the biggest yet! There are five communal bikes rides taking place throughout the day, ranging from 9 to 38 miles, all starting from Millennium Square and heading along a traffic free Portway, as well as venturing into the beautiful countryside beyond. All the rides finish at the Harbourside where you can join in the fun, collect your ride certificate, meet up with others and enjoy a relaxing afternoon. If you want to take part in one of the rides then please register either online or by requesting a registration form from the council.
If you don’t have access to a bicycle or don’t ride a bike, come along and join in the fun anyway at Bristol’s Biggest Fun Day at the Harbourside. There will be entertainment for all the family from 11.30am to 6.00pm; music, stalls, bike displays, puppet shows, storytelling, a BMX competition, demonstrations, cycling information and lots more. Highlights include music from Mankala (uplifting African and Western rhythms), Mandibles (top young gypsy swing players), Nuala & The Alchemy Quartet (folk singer/songwriter), Smerins Anti-Social Club (gyspsy carnival jazz) as well as circus skills from Circomdeia and the Dance of Cycling by the Bicycle Ballet.
