Festival Preview – FarmFest 2008
25th - 26th July 2008 @ Gilcombe Farm , Bruton, Somerset
Tickets £20
Back for its third year running, FarmFestival challenges independent music fans to fight back against the credit crunch and embrace a weekend of ‘Dairy Disco’ for the price of an Indian, with all profits going to the charity Practical Action. Two days’ worth of up-and-coming bands and top DJs with some juicy headliners in the form of Babyhead and SixNationState with local bands Pinstripe, Rocketeer and Bigtopp also getting the nod.
Having grown from its original 500 capacity in 2006, when organiser Dejan Vernon built the stage himself and took ticket orders on his mobile phone, FarmFestival can now accommodate up to 2,000 people. “We’re a great alternative for people that can’t afford to fork out for the prices of the major festivals in the UK and want to keep their carbon footprint clean by avoiding flights to cheaper European festivals,” says Dejan. As well as great music from a whole host of genres, punters can embrace the taste of the Wescountry with local sourced hog roasts and cider all round.
And if all that’s not enough to convince you, the fact that onsite hat wearing is compulsory (hats provided on the gate for non-conformers) should push you off the fence. £20?!?! Banging.
